Softball Manitoba Announces Changes to Annual Award Presentation
Softball Manitoba is pleased to announce changes in the annual award presentations that recognize athletes, coaches, clinicians, administrators, umpires and volunteers in our sport. In the past, Softball Manitoba has held an awards ceremony immediately following our Annual General Meeting, starting in 2024 the award ceremony will no longer take place and will be replaced with the following:
Top Player Awards will now be the Most Outstanding Player Award
The Top Player Award for each male and female age categories will now be replaced with the Most Outstanding Player Award that will be awarded at each of our Minor Division Provincial Championships.
Memorial Awards
The Memorial Awards will now be presented at the annual Hall of Fame Induction Dinner. This will allow the Association to acknowledge the achievements of both our past and present members. The awards that will be presented are:
- Jim Adams Memorial Award - presented to the Outstanding Administrator, Builder or Executive Member
- Leo Bouchard Memorial Award - presented for Leadership in Minor Pitcher Development
- Edgar Stevenson Memorial Award - presented to the Top Male Player of the Year. This award will no longer be limited to a single age category but will be open to all male players in the Minor Division.
- Jean Mayne Memorial Award - presented to the Top Female Player of the Year. This award will no longer be limited to a single age category but will be open to all female players in the Minor Division.
- Bill Sadonick Memorial Award - presented to the Coach of the Year - Minor Division. This award will no longer be for the entire coaching staff.
- Eugene Michalow Memorial Award - presented to Softball Manitoba Volunteer of the Year. This award will recognize the contributions of those that provide leadership, direction and support for the sport regardless of their positions or titles within the sport of Softball.
- Bob Turner Memorial Award - presented for Outstanding Contribution to Grassroots Softball
- Wayne Deschouwer Memorial Award - presented to Softball Manitoba’s Umpire of the Year
Bursary Awards
Softball Manitoba will be presenting the Bursary Awards at the Annual General Meeting prior to the conclusion of the meetings. The bursary awards include:
- Eugene Michalow Memorial Bursary
- Ashley Neufeld Memorial Bursary
- Softball Manitoba Bursary
