Executive Director - Softball Manitoba
Location: Winnipeg, MB
Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
The mission of Softball Manitoba is to promote and develop softball at all levels, by providing leadership, programs and services to meet the needs of all participants, thus enhancing the profile of softball in Manitoba. For more information on Softball Manitoba visit www.softball.mb.ca
Softball Manitoba is seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead the organization in achieving its mission and vision. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, oversee day-to-day operations, and foster strong relationships with members, partners, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
- Provide hands-on leadership for the organization and staff
- Implement policies and procedures as established by the Board
- Support Standing and Ad Hoc Committees in achieving objectives
- Facilitate open communication and collaboration across the organization
Strategic Planning & Program Management
- Lead the development and ongoing updates of the Strategic Plan
- Set operational goals and ensure alignment with Board priorities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services
- Engage with member associations to assess needs and improve offerings
Human Resource Management
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff according to organizational policies
- Set clear goals and monitor performance
- Support recruitment, orientation, and training of volunteers
Financial Management
- Develop and administer annual budgets in consultation with the Board
- Maintain financial oversight, reporting, and compliance with policies
- Identify and pursue external funding opportunities
- Liaise with auditors and ensure proper financial management
Risk Management & Advocacy
- Monitor organizational risks and report significant issues to the Board
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage is maintained
- Promote Softball Manitoba’s mission and goals within the community
- Represent the organization at events, tournaments, and partner meetings
Qualifications & Competencies
- Post-secondary education in business administration, sport/recreation management or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector; experience with volunteer boards and committees preferred
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Demonstrated financial management and strategic planning expertise
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases)
- Familiarity with digital communication tools (websites, social media, live streaming, Zoom)
- Knowledge of softball is an asset, but not required
