As President of Softball Manitoba I would like to welcome You to Our Association as we prepare to start the 2021 season.
We are working with Softball Canada and the other Provinces/Territories in planning for both Canadian Championships and Western Canadian Championships, if circumstances require changes to the events we will update everyone as information becomes available.
Softball Canada has formed a working group to evaluate the options regarding changes to age categories and the impacts any changes may have on Long Term Player Development. Meetings are scheduled with the Provinces/Territories in early February to update and discuss the review.
The Board of Softball Manitoba continues to work on providing on-line opportunities for coach and officials development programs as well as finding ways to assist athletes to stay involved and engaged in the sport.
Work continues with the Minor Division membership to improve our grassroots level and our performance pathway. Projects include the development of AA programing, review of our AAA programs and initiatives to introduce Softball into school and recreation programs. As is the experience of many sports during COVID the challenge is to keep our athletes, officials and coaches engaged while finding ways to grow the sport at the grassroots level.
Softball Manitoba’s Website will continue to provide You with ongoing and updated information on all of our Sport’s Development and Competition Programming. Also posted soon will be our ‘2021 Return To Play Report’ including changes, restrictions, etc. with COVID-19 and our Provincial Health Standards. Please take a moment to go through our website site and if you have any questions, suggestions, feedback etc. do not hesitate to contact the Office.
Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support of our sport and all of the hard work you have put into it.
We look forward to a successful 2021.
All the best stay safe and stay healthy.
Larry Giesbrecht, President
